HAPPY DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Super excited decided to go big and go Japan. I've been to Europe to France and Austria the last two years but now myself and a couple of buddies are aiming high and going for two weeks in Japan. Firstly, dam its gonna be expensive but its just gotta be done as the stories i've heard are unreal. Watched a programme the other day which looked at snowboarding in Japan and couldn't believe the amount of deep pow and they hardly go off piste!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! crazy. Just thinking get up early each day, thread tracks through the tree's, board til late (nite boarding til 10!) then hot japanese style sauna, sushi and some crazy japanese karoke! Its gonna take a while to sort the details out, not sure where in Japan to go, at what time of the year and where to stay but all i can say is 2009 the year of the japanese boarder.
Will keep you updated over the next few weeks, any comments are welcome to help me sort this amazing trip out

In the beginning........
Am i one of the lucky ones? Just thinking back to the day i first clipped into my bindings many a year ago nothing in my past led me to be a snowboarder. I mean none of my family has ever snowboarded nor do i live in a country in which i can drive to a mountain for the weekend (due to the fact i live in the UK!), school never offered a snowboarding trip and none of my friends used to board (i've changed that now) but completely by chance and a desire to do something different i began snowboarding. A couple of things have stuck with me since that moment i decided i'd be up for trying boarding:
1) I was told by a snowboarder during one of my lessons at the tamworth indoor snowdome that "once you start James and experience the feeling of riding on fresh powder on a blue bird day you will be completely addicted forever"! Never has spoken words been more true, anyone with boarding experience will be nodding when i say this. You constantly think, dream and imagine where to go next?, what resort?, what board, bindings, boots you have and want come september ( and u always want new stuff), your binding and board setup, how to do a reserve 360?, shall i try the half pipe next time?, and the most important questions when can i go again?, who's coming with me and how the hell do i pay for it!!!!
2) No matter where i've been (and to date not nearly to enough resorts) i've met some of the most interesting, laid back and up for a good time people in my life. Pure quality memories, stories and basically stupid things i've done and bullied others into doing! I love the that fact you can be casually chatting to someone and then u mention snowboarding and the get sucked into a beer laiden convo about every single little detail on snowboarding for hours and hours, even the most random stuff. Before you know it your invited by the locals to hit all the backcountry spots which the tourists don't normally find and is almost always the best days on the mountain.
This blog is to help mine and others addiction to snowboarding. I love taking to people about how they got into snowboarding and the resorts they've been to i find it v. interesting. Everyone has a different story as to their "in the beginning... and i'd love you to share it with us as we all can relate. Also i'd like to hear how people have managed to save up and can afford to keep going every year. Just write back on this blog or get in contact with me and i'll post any replies.
